This series is being shown at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery as part of their exhibition “Beyond the Threshold” which explores ideas of home, homelessnes, and the housing crisis.
Continuing with the themes of my Pest Control series, with these works I’m thinking about the ways that we defend our homes from nature as if we are separate from it, ejecting pests and removing invasive plants from our personal bubble even as we facilitate their presence and wider spread through industry, resource extraction, and development.
These pieces are decorated with some experimental glazes, some made from locally gathered or ‘wild’ clay, and some with invasive plant ash.
